Sermon Theme: A Quickening Life
Sermon Text: John 11:25 and 26, 1 Cor 15: 35-38, John 15: 12-13, 2 Cor 4:8-10
John 11:25-26.
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
God gives life to the dead.God is able to quicken and resurrect bodies that have become impotent or rendered lifeless. Abraham believed that even though his body and Sarah’s bodies were rendered as dead God was able to quicken them. Abraham anchored his hope to the hope of God….he hooked his hope to the hope of God-who gives life to the dead. And because Abraham anchored his hope in what God had said the birth of his son (Isaac) was able to be manifested.
As believers we have been quickened by the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. We have eternal life in Jesus Christ and so the life-force of Jesus is inherent in us.
One is not made alive unless it dies…..a seed will initially die because of the conditions of the soil. Then at the scent of water that seed jumps back to life and bears fruit. We shouldn’t allow people to rob us of eternal life…..or distract us with offences, bitterness, unforgiveness, etc. We need to die to offence. We need to die to self. We need to learn to accommodate persecution and we must learn to be forbearing. We shouldn’t allow offence to derail us from the will of God/ the quickening life.
The quickening life of Elisha ( in his body/bones) impacted a dead man to life. Elisha’s body though dead returned the power of his faith into the body of a man who was dead. The resurrection power in Elisha raised the body of a dead man back to life when it touched his bones.
When a quickened life begins to manifest in our lives there will be a demonstration of God’s power wherever we go. Love people beyond offence because that is what will bring quickening to them.
